BJP-PDP come close to form Government in Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir's wait for a new government is likely to get over as the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic are poised to join hands and form a coalition soon.

According to sources PDP founder and former chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed  will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a formal announcement will be made in the next few days.

Sources said PDP veteran Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is likely to be the next Jammu and Kashmir CM, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the next three days to finalise a Common Minimum Programme  to be shared by the two allies.

For almost a month, the BJP and the PDP had been working on the CMP which includes controversial issues like Article 370, the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and the Uniform Civil Code.

The PDP has 28 and the BJP 25 seats in the state assembly. The National Conference won 15 seats and its former ally, the Congress 12. Seven seats went to independents and smaller parties.
